avenue q
for those of you who have been living under a rock, avenue q is an amazingly funny musical, which can be described as sesame street for adults. the themes are totally un-pc, the puppets are crass and songs are titled "it sucks to be me" and "everyone's a little bit racist".
the musical started off-broadway in 2002 and and has won heaps of tony awards. and apparently it's still one of broadway's most popular shows. i can definitely see why. john and i laughed from start to finish.
the bulk of the main characters are puppets, manned by performers dressed all in black/grey but not hiding their face, their expressions or even pretending to be ventriloquists. i think what makes this so funny is watching the actors behind the puppets as they take on their personas. i was pretty impressed with the few performers who were singing for more then one puppet, with an entirely different voice.
i have been touting this show to everyone that will listen lately, so why stop now? you should all go see the show when it comes to town.
you can thank me later
xo
