burn the floor
as many of you know, john and i have been taking ballroom lessons for some time now. whilst i don't claim that we are experts- by any means- we do enjoy it thoroughly (me more then him, i'm sure). so when the international touring show "burn the floor" made an appearance in perth, i couldn't resist going!
my friend erica and i (she does lessons with us) bought tickets and decided to check out the competition...ahahah. our seats were front row centre, which always sounds better then it is. it was great to see their expressions (and boy, were they expressive) but it was a shame not to see their feet for most of it.
the show was freakin' amazing! for 2 hours (with a break), these dancers just performed like mad! they jived, quickstepped, cha cha'd, rhumba'd, waltzed, fox trotted, paso doble'd, tangoed and swung their way into our hearts. and they seriously did not stop! i have never seen so much energy (nor makeup and glitter, but that's besides the point)
the women were clearly outstanding, both in looks and in talent. and the men! oh the men! they could move like nobody's business. in fact, the lady behind us said "that's what i'm talking about", when the group of them came out to dance together. sure sure, their glistening, rippled bodies were an attribute but boy! could they move. amazing. simply amazing.
the show also had live music: a variety of percussion and 2 singers, who were incredible. because apparently it wasn't enough to just have a show filled with talented dancers...
erica and i think we've managed to pick up a few tricks from them and are looking forward to unleashing them on the dance floor this friday. ole!
